Abstract: Scaffolding the strategies for EFL students at our universities would be of a great advantage in developing their listening strategies and ultimately their listening skill. This means that teachers should focus on How learners should develop their predicting, guessing and activating background knowledge in order to better listen. In order to manage such a teaching method, one could go for the pre-while-post type of activities. However, choosing to start from a guided listening approach can be more helpful not only in developing EFL students’ listening skills, but also in motivating them to like listening. The guided listening approach is a cooperative approach where the teacher chooses some resources (from textbooks or websites) to start with along with his scaffolding techniques on how to predicate the topic, the vocabulary, the content and so on. Then, EFL students should participate in fetching some recommended resources where they practice these strategies at their own.
